Have a holly jolly hot toddy for the holidays, love lali

So technically, as creatives in a digital age, lali is used to doing almost everything creative on a computer. Unless we’re doing marker sketches (is that a car or a bubble with four lumps?) or taking notes, I’m writing scripts and Lindsey is doing comps or we’re both writing emails on the computer.

However, the holidays with lali wouldn’t be complete with a little DIY arts and craftsing.

So we decided to make holiday cocktails in a mug for our fellow Chiaters. Peppermint schnapps and hot chocolate for the ladies (included fancy peppermint marshmallows and a candy cane stirrer) and hot toddies with Makers Mark for the gentlemen. Li cheated and made recipe cards with our lali header on the computer, although she cut them out by hand!

Here are our supplies:

And thank you Target, for giving us an unexpected bottle of Astroglide natural lube that we didn’t pay for surprisingly in our bag of holiday goodies:

Here’s a preview of the mugs stuffed with festive cheer (pre-cellophane):

And here’s a photo of the injury I incurred while mishandling the scissors (apparently arts & crafts is dangerous for me!):

And finally, here is Carrie Schaer, our lovely and wonderful producer, who sent us a text message of her enjoying the spiked hot chocolate on Saturday night:

Lots of holiday love and alcoholic cheer to the people who made 2010 Chiat Days and Nights great this year!

xo from two lalis who would rather be enjoying some whiskey in a hot toddy than blogging right now!

Vaguely NSFW (esp if you don’t work in advertising) Chiat Holiday Party Photos!

So this blog post is probably better told in pictures. Words fail where these photos obviously succeed.

We go to a PP @ JDB‘s. These is where Li’s camera comes in. It never came out at the party… That could be because we took a party bus to the party.

The girls! The girls!

Then the party bus.

Then the party. (and sorry these photos have watermarked proof on them, digital downloads were $35 EACH!)

It starts out so innocently.

And then the fact that they had a bed and a photographer stationed right by the open bar went into full force…

And ended with a for sure hangover for the next day…

For the full set of photos, check out this album.

And a huge thanks to Jay Tay, jdeebee, Chase Madrid, Omeed Boghraty, Kristina Krkljs, Dave Estrada, Sean Quinn, Andi Lichtnenfeld and many more for providing us with men in suits (!!!), beautiful dresses, pillow fights, awkward bathroom run-ins, party bus dancing and drunken photo ops. Working with you all is fun, but drinking with you all is waaaay better.

xo,
la (who chatted in bed with a hungover li at 10a the next morning still in full makeup with a rat’s nest hair)

lali celebrates 101 posts!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lscribbly/5258819219/

Shocking as it may be, la and I have officially thought of 101 things to blog about over the last 10 months or so. Thank you SO much, loyal lali readers, for being (pretending to be?) interested in what we think, eat, wear, watch, do, and create.

We love sharing our ad girl experiences, so here’s to 101 more enthralling posts :)

xo and fanfare!

“We Feel Pretty!”

So lali never dresses up for work. If the hipstamatic photos on our blog are proof, our usual getup is jeans and a t-shirt. However, in lyrics of Maria, yesterday, this was what lali sang: (and felt)

I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright.
And I pity
Any girl who isn’t me tonight.

And if you haven’t guessed why we dressed up by now, you obviously have a y chromosome.

That’s right boys who don’t know what this song is from, we went to see West Side Story!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lscribbly/5244931914/
(that’s us “snap” fighting in front of the sign)

We had a fancy dinner and cocktails at Hungry Cat, danced our way down Vine St to the Pantages, and hummed and snapped along to all the lyrics of West Side Story. Technically, it was my wonderful idea to give Jacqui tickets as a birthday present, Lindsey adopted the idea for her best friend Sasha‘s birthday, but really it was a present for all of us.

And since we were in a singing mood, we shrilly trilled along to “Do Re Mi” on the car ride home, even all singing different parts at points.

And even though we’re back to our normal attire of t-shirts, jeans and flip flops, in the spirit of Maria and with extra vibrato:

Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty dress,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty [us]!

xo,

la

Where did lali go?

Maybe you’ve noticed we haven’t blogged in a super long time, and you’re probably thinking “wow, lali must not be doing anything interesting or blog worthy!” But au contraire. It’s our busy-ness that has prevented our blogging. And now it’s time to bring you up to speed :)

Let’s see, what have we been up to?

The agency hosted a Nissan kegger to celebrate this year’s Innovation for All launch. We were honored to have two spots and our iAd play for all to see! The biggest wigs flew in, the account guys wore suits, the agency was filled with shiny cars, and the walls were covered with Nissan banners.

Shortly thereafter, La had the brilliant idea that we should make a cameo at the LA Auto Show. Super fun. We learned about fancy cars, electric cars, and cars we kind of want for ourselves. We even got to pose with the Juke and shamelessly tell autobloggers about our iAd.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lscribbly/5198461133/

Then we worked a bunch… the iAd went live and our spot started running. I did lots of comps involving bikini models, and La watched behind the scene videos of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. All work-related of course. Oh yeah, and Samson had a birthday! Then… Thanksgiving! I baked 5 pies using my awesome mixer from la (wedding shower present):

Then passed out pies (that I didn’t bake) at skid row in downtown LA:

In true lali surround think fashion, La was ALSO busy baking:

Four day weekend (for ONCE we didn’t work through the holiday this time), I got a Christmas tree, La drove to and from Berkley and read 3 books. Then back to work… more bikini models, lots more Kowalczyk, and an Energizer Bunny brief. Fun times.

Just wait… this week we’re taking friends to see Westside Story at the Pantages, and then (drumroll) the Chiat Holiday Party. Don’t you just love this time of year :)

xo in the holiday spirit!
